Q: What do we need to know before the end of the year?
A: The clock is ticking for calendar-sensitive items. We do our best to make sure that required minimum distributions take place, and for most of you that task is already completed.
Many of you make charitable contributions from retirement accounts, donating appreciated shares. This allows you to avoid capital gains taxes on those shares, while receiving the applicable deduction on the contribution. To ensure that this is done on time, December 15th is the latest that these should be made.
