The Lowry Letter® - 1/17/2026

January 17, 2026

For many of us, this will be one of the coldest weekends of the year. We hope you stay warm and enjoy time with people you love.
In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, our office and the markets will be closed on Monday, January 19th.

We have some important housekeeping notes below:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • We know many of you like to prepare your tax returns as soon as possible. We hope that tax documents will be ready at the optimal time but sometimes delays occur. As in years past, NFS has requested an extension to the IRS’s initial mailing deadline from February 15 to March 15. Your return may come sooner, but for those affected, this extension is designed to reduce the need for corrected forms that may require amended returns.

We understand that this can be inconvenient and frustrating. Please let us know if you have any questions.

  • If you use Investor360° to review your investment accounts, please make note of this change. Beginning January 15, a new phone number will be used to send text and voice prompts to Investor360° users for multifactor authentication (MFA). The current number is 781.209.6950 and the new number is 781.675.1146. It may show up as potential spam, so consider adding it to your contacts.

A couple of “normal” Lowry Letter® items below:

  • The case for the Fed’s 2025 rate cuts is pretty good, according to Chris & Sam from Commonwealth. Expectations are for the Fed to wait and see, as employment conditions are weaker and inflation trends remain uncertain.

  • Do institutional home buyers, such as private equity firm Blackstone, make housing more expensive? On the whole, no. For one thing, institutions own a very, very small percentage of residential housing. Even more compelling, they may make housing, especially rentals, less

  • The average American moves 11.7 times in their life - a reminder of how often housing, relocation, and life transitions affect finances.

Q: Have you had any issues with fraudsters lately?

A: Not in our office, but we have heard reports of bad actors creating fraudulent advisor websites. The purpose is to mislead you into providing sensitive information. Here are some things to be aware of:
  • Our only website is lowryfinancialadvisors.com.
  • Our office will not use social media to reach out to you about your investments.
  • We will call you directly to confirm new investments or money movements.
  • Any investment promising low risk and high or fast returns is a scam.
Please contact us with any questions about these or other issues. We love helping our clients navigate these tricky challenges and when it comes to these dangers, there are no dumb questions.
