We remain encouraged by continued vaccinations and hope the trend continues. We enjoyed Brad McMillan’s story of his return to in-person work at Commonwealth and imagine it mirrors many other people’s experiences.

We realized that we had not announced this, but please consider our office fully open for in-person appointments. We have been vaccinated and are comfortable meeting without masks per current guidelines. If you prefer to meet wearing masks, we are happy to accommodate you.

We enjoyed an excellent webinar on Tuesday, with Brad McMillan from Commonwealth and the Independent Market Observer. We will share some of Brad’s key insights below and have attached his slides from the presentation. If you have any questions about them, please let us know!

Also, did you know that you can access Investor360 through a smartphone app and not just through our website? A link to the iOS app is here and the Google Play store here.

Some big news this past week was the potential increase in the capital gains tax rate for individuals with more than $1 million of taxable income. It is important to remember that this is just a proposal. If it does become law, and you are affected by it, there are some techniques that can be used to reduce the impact.

In the meantime, The Tax Foundation has a great analysis of potential tax changes, the revenue they might raise, and the potential impact on U.S. GDP.

Please remember our May 11 webinar with Brad McMillan.

The Lowry Letter® - 4/22/2021

Continuing with April’s Financial Literacy theme, we wanted to share this interview with Commonwealth’s Becca Hajjar. She shares her own experience learning about financial topics and some basic tips on helping kids become more literate.

When we started looking for a new brokerage relationship in 2006, Becca was our first contact with Commonwealth. We continue to appreciate the support that they provide and great people like Becca are an important part of that.

Please remember to earmark May 11th for our special guest webinar with Commonwealth’s Brad McMillan. That will take place that day at 4pm. Please send along any questions you have for Brad.

The Lowry Letter® - 4/15/2021

Most of you know that we often cite the work of Brad McMillan and the investment research team at Commonwealth. They are important partners to our firm, and we are excited to announce that Brad will join us for a webinar on Tuesday, May 11th at 4pm. He will be speaking exclusively to our clients and guests. If you have any questions for Brad, please send them our way.

The Lowry Letter® - 4/8/2021

The first quarter of 2021 is in the books and it was an interesting one for the markets. Indexes saw gains, but as with any period not all stocks participated in the improvement. Tech stocks were a drag for the Nasdaq and the Dow Jones led the way among large-company indices.

This is normal activity for long-term investors. Last year’s leaders may be this year’s laggards. The timing of these shifts is as unpredictable as ever and the case remains strong for diversification’s role in managing risk. There is more in the Quarterly Market Update found here

The Lowry Letter® - 4/1/2021

No April Foolin’ here- just the eclectic mix of information that you enjoy.

Please note: The stock market and our office will be closed on Friday, April 2nd in observance of Good Friday.

Are you zoomed out? We have taken a little break in our remote event schedule, but will resume in April and would love to know if there are any specific areas that you would like to learn more about.

The Lowry Letter® - 3/24/2021

Last Saturday marked the official beginning of spring. As with the new year, we have an opportunity to make new goals and recommit to old ones. Brad McMillan discusses some of the economic news we can expect as we move into the new season and his expectation. Despite a hard year and a hard winter, things will get better.
